Szewai (C-Y) is the owner of Duet Dance Studio, a top-rated ballroom dance studio in Chicago, IL. When she was 4, she took her first dance class and felt deeply inspired by her teacher, who was full of passion and patience. Soon after that, she decided one day she would become a dance teacher just like her.
Graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Dance, Szewai is trained in a variety of dance forms including ballet, modern, jazz, ballroom and Latin. When she began ballroom dancing, she fell in love with this dance form instantly. What she loves most about ballroom dancing is its magical connection you create with your partner through movement. Every dance is a beautiful conversation without words. Since 2006, Szewai has been sharing the joy of partner dancing with the world. She opened Duet Dance Studio in 2013 and it has since been featured in numerous media including The New York Times, Forbes, ABC7 News, WGN and Chicago Magazine.
When Szewai isn't dancing, she enjoys discovering hidden gems in the city. She also has a love for plants, vintage and DIYs! Her name, Szewai, is a Cantonese name pronounced C-Y, meaning poetry and intelligence.
